Over $17 Million Spent On State Lobbyists This Year

Just before the legislative session began I did a breakdown of which lobbyists would be lobbying for which interests. Some lobbyists, however, don’t report many of their clients until the session gets underway and many acquire clients as the session progresses. So now that the Legislature is going well into overtime, the lobbying picture is much clearer.



Polling Released On Alaska Politicians

Recently, longtime Alaska pollster Ivan Moore of Alaska Survey Research released five years of polling numbers on U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski, Congressman Don Young, former Governor Sean Parnell, and Governor Bill Walker.



Governor Mourns Passing Of Rep. Max Gruenberg

Governor Bill Walker and Lt. Governor Byron Mallott today mourned the passing of Representative Max Gruenberg.

“This is a significant loss for all of Alaska,” Governor Walker said. “Max has been a steady and respected voice in the legislature. Donna and I are covering his loved ones with prayer during this very difficult time.”

Rep. Gruenberg is survived by his wife, Kayla Epstein, his sons and daughter-in-law.

Governor Walker ordered flags to be lowered concurrently for Rep. Gruenberg and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
