Murkowski Campaign Announces Big Fundraising Haul and Staff Moves

Murkowski Campaign Off to Strong Start in 2016
Reports More Than $3 Million Cash On Hand; Raised $3.3 Million in 2015

ANCHORAGE, AK – This morning, the campaign announced Sen. Murkowski’s latest fundraising result:  her reelection campaign has $3.1 million cash-on-hand.  This effort, including over $570,000 raised during the fourth quarter, represents a new and historic fundraising record for any Alaskan holding public office in a non-election year. In total, Murkowski raised nearly $3.3 million in 2015.

The campaign also announced receiving particularly strong support from local supporters, collecting over 1,300 individual contributions from Alaskans for the 2016 election.  These contributions amount to nearly $500,000.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski also unveiled the leadership team that will help her guide her 2016 campaign to success. Steve Wackowski, Rachel Kallander, and Scott Kendall, all veterans of her 2010 campaign, will make up the core leadership of her 2016 effort.

“I am thrilled to have these outstanding Alaskans leading my team in this campaign,” said Lisa. “They stood with me six years ago and I am proud to have them standing with me again to continue our fight for Alaska’s future.”

Steve Wackowski of Anchorage, who previously served as Senator Murkowski’s campaign Communications Director in 2010 and a Press Secretary for the late Senator Ted Stevens, will serve as Campaign Manager. Wackowski, also a Major in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, will lead the personnel and all operations of the campaign.

“As a new father, I want to make sure Alaska is a place where my son will have a thriving economy to work and raise his own family one day,” said Wackowski. “I believe in Lisa. I believe in her vision for Alaska, and her proven ability to achieve real results for our state. Now more than ever, we need her representing us in the U.S. Senate.”

Rachel Kallander of Cordova will serve as Deputy Campaign Manager. Rachel is Managing Partner of Kallander & Associates, a consulting firm serving Alaska and the Arctic. She is also Founder and Executive Director of the Arctic Encounter Symposium, an acclaimed conference bringing together Arctic experts and policy leaders to discuss impacts to the region and those living there. Rachel recently graduated from the University of Washington School of Law.

Scott Kendall of Anchorage, who served as the Campaign Coordinator in 2015, has assumed the position of Strategic Counsel.  Kendall, an Anchorage attorney and veteran of numerous statewide and local campaigns, will continue his role in overall campaign strategy and leading national fundraising efforts.

These latest moves follow the announcement last November of Brilliant Media Strategies of Anchorage, Alaska as the media consultants for the campaign.

So… spouse asks if Sen. Lisa will be supporting Obama’s equal pay for women measure this time around? Or will she again tank it simply because Obama.

  2. And who does she owe for all this largess? And is what’s good for Lisa good for Alaska?
