Former Governor Sean Parnell has confirmed to The Midnight Sun that he will throw his hat into the ring against Alaska’s senior U.S. Senator, Lisa Murkowski. The official announcement event is being organized for today at 4 p.m. at the Palmer Train Depot.
Parnell said, “I had originally planned to support Senator Murkowski, in fact I donated $500 to her campaign just a month ago, however the erosion of the energy renaissance we led in Alaska when I was Governor and the continued attacks of the Obama administration on Alaska’s economy and its people have prompted me to act.”
Chairman of the Alaska Republican Party Peter Goldberg in a prepared statement said, “The Alaska Republican Party is thrilled to have another meaningful choice for conservatives to chose on the primary ballot. The Party will take no sides in the race and will energetically support either Gov. Parnell or Sen. Murkowski if they they win our nomination.”
“We know this is going to be a tough battle against a well-funded incumbent, but Governor Parnell is definitely in it to win it” said Parnell Campaign Manager April F. Day.
This is a developing story, check back for more details…
You got me. You seemed too serious to pull an April Fools joke. Good one.
Isn’t this a re-run?
And how about the fiscal legacy you left Alaska Governor Parnell? You had the line item veto over appropriations and said yourself that the budgets you signed into law were “unsustainable”. I am sure they want you in Washington DC since you have no problem with out of control spending and have a record to prove it.
Sean Parnell, you left the Alaska Budget a complete mess and now you want to run against Senator Murkowski ? What a complete joke.
Yes, this is a “complete joke”. Did you notice that the campaign manager is April F. Day?
Yes. But my point is still valid
Congratulations on the scoop! This will be an interesting and challenging campaign for all concerned. Yahoo!
Hey Sean…how are those oil company handouts you pushed through working out these days? Mr. Parnell has some nerve to show his face on an election poster of any kind. He’ll be lucky if Alaskans dont tar & feather his ass when we’re hit with an income tax and a tiny PFD just so his buddies can hand our money to the big oil execs.
