Joe Miller has sent out his first fundraising email and his message differs greatly from that the Alaska Republican Party is selling.
The Alaska GOP has been trying to convince their rank-in-file supporters and the public that there is nothing to see here in the race between their nominated Senate candidate Sen. Lisa Murkowski and their former nominated candidate for that same post, Joe Miller.
In fact, Alaska GOP spokeswoman Suzanne Downing has said there is “no rancor” in the Alaska GOP and characterised a recent State Central Committee Meeting where several members resigned to support Miller as a “love-in.”
That differs greatly from the facts of what appears to be a substantial split among Alaska Republicans, some choosing to follow Miller out the door and others choosing to stay and support Murkowski.
The raw feelings that split is exposing were on full display last week during Republican Anchorage Assemblywoman Amy Demboski’s radio show. She became so irritated with Alaska GOP Vice-Chairman Rick Whitbeck over the issue she threw him off the air.
We at The Midnight Sun believe that does qualify as “rancor.”
Joe Miller’s campaign appears to also believe there is quite a bit of rancor among Alaska Republicans over his candidacy. Earlier today he sent out a fundraising email titled “Throw some gas on the fireâ€.”
The email read in its entirety:

“Several Alaska GOP officials split to back Libertarian Miller”
– Alaska Dispatch, 9/13/2016
Patriot,
Americans are sick and tired of business-as-usual in Washington.
They’re fed up with political correctness. And they’ve had enough of being lied to over and over again by politicians — in BOTH political parties.
As a result — there’s an anti-establishment firestorm sweeping across the nation.
And you and I are on the frontlines of the fight in our insurgent campaign against long-time establishment lackey Lisa Murkowski.
In fact, just a few hours ago the Alaska Dispatch reported that several GOP officials were splitting with the Party to back our insurgent campaign.
There’s only 55 days until the November 8 General Election.
Early voting begins even sooner.
I’m running against an establishment insider with a multi-MILLION dollar war chest.
But she can be defeated. As you may remember, I defeated Lisa Murkowski back in 2010.
In 2010, you and I sparked a grassroots uprising by defeating Lisa Murkowski in the Republican Primary. Since then, we’ve kept the fire burning.
And now, with the political winds blowing in our direction, I’m confident 2016 is our year to KICK OUT THE ESTABLISHMENT and take care of business in Washington.
Patriot, this is our opportunity to kick the establishment to the curb.
Right now I’m reaching out and asking my closest friends and supporters for their most generous support.
Some folks have contributed $2,700 ($5,400 per couple) — the maximum legal amount under federal law.
If you’re blessed enough to be able to contribute the maximum amount, I believe this is an investment worth making.
Of course, I understand times are tough and not everyone can afford the maximum amount.
For some, $500, $250 or $100 is all they can do right now.
And I also know that for others, $35, $25 and $15 is a sacrifice.
Patriot, I can’t thank you enough for the support you’ve given me and my family in the past.
I hope and pray you will continue to stand with me in the fight to take on and defeat establishment insider Lisa Murkowski in November.
Thank you in advance for standing with me in this fight.
Together, you and I will defeat Lisa Murkowski in November.
For liberty,
Joe Miller
Alaska’s Conservative Candidate
United States Senate
Casey, Casey, Casey. Sorry, but the only folks I know in the ARP (and I know a lot of the SCC) who voluntarily stepped down in order to support Joe Miller, will be working to elect Republicans into every other seat on the ballot. You may want the world to think the Republicans don’t respect everyone’s individual votes, but that’s just not the case. They’re following their hearts and the rules. Shame, Shame, Shame.
Shame? Really? Just because they were “following their hearts” doesn’t change that, as party officials, their intent was to disrespect the will of voters. Did you listen to the Demboski broadcast posted here? She made it clear that she knows better than the majority of voters who decided to make Murkowski the nominee. Save your shaming. It’s a tired, and usually dishonest, tactic anyway.
I didn’t listen to Amy on the radio. Instead I listened to her in the District 12 meeting that evening. As someone who was there, I know that when they took office there was no inkling that Cean would run or step down, that Joe would become a libertarian or that any conflicts would raise their heads. I also “listened” to both Amy and the ARP officials who clarified the issues on Facebook. Not quite as public as Casey’s made Amy’s show, but good enough for me.
