Alaska Dispatch News — “Anchorage Superior Court Judge Andrew Guidi on Thursday overturned the results of the Democratic primary in Alaska’s northernmost House district, declaring incumbent Rep. Ben Nageak the winner by two votes instead of challenger Dean Westlake.”
“In a prepared statement, Alaska Lt. Gov. Byron Mallott, who oversees the state elections division, announced he was appealing the ruling to the Alaska Supreme Court.”
“Guidi issued his decision Thursday after a weeklong trial in a legal challenge filed against the state by Nageak, who is from the North Slope community of Barrow. Nageak had trailed Westlake, from the Northwest Alaska hub town of Kotzebue, by eight votes after a recount.”
