US Senator Lisa Murkowski is touting quite the campaign war chest heading into the final month of the election cycle.
According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) documents, Murkowski raised $460,000 in the latest three-month reporting period running from July 1 to September 30. That is down substantially from her last four fundraising quarters where she averaged $731,000 in donations.
A dip in Murkowski’s fundraising numbers isn’t surprising considering she is widely considered both in Alaska and nationally, as an almost lock to win re-election (The Cook Political Report currently rates Alaska senate race as “Likely Republican”).
It is likely much of the money she could have raised from national Republican sources is being directed to more contentious senate battles in states such as Arizona, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania.
Even Though Murkowski’s income was a bit off previous quarters, her FEC report remains impressive. After spending a hefty $1.9 Million over the last three months, Murkowski still has over $1,585,000 in the bank to use over the final month of the race.
It is worth noting that the almost $1.6 Million Murkowski still has to spend is more than all of her opponents have raised combined over their entire collective campaigns.
The bottom line is, this report shows there is no reason to suspect Murkowski is anything but solidly positioned to easily win re-election.
Here is Murkowski’s campaign statement on her FEC numbers:
“The Lisa Murkowski for U.S. Senate campaign raised nearly half a million dollars in the third quarter of 2016. The campaign has $1.6 million in available funds going into the final days before the election. “
“I am particularly excited by the support I’ve received from Alaskans,” Murkowski said. “I’m focused on traveling across the state listening to Alaskans and making sure that I’m focused on the issues they care about most.”
“During her reelection campaign Sen. Murkowski has received more than 2,100 contributions from individual Alaskans, totaling over $770,000.”
“Sen. Murkowski has raised more money from Alaskans than any of her opponents. Indeed, she has shown more Alaskan support than all of her opponents combined.”
