House Majority Leader Tuck loses runoff election for IBEW job

We can stop speculating about House Majority Leader Chris Tuck’s future in the Legislature. He has lost the runoff election for IBEW Local 1547’s business manager.

In the last month, Tuck has been mum about what he would do if he won the position in the runoff election Monday. Most speculation, though, pointed to him likely leaving the Legislature if he won. There was talk he said as much in a letter to union members, and another person close to the union said it would have been near-impossible to do both jobs well.

Tuck lost to Dave Reaves with Reaves defeating Tuck with 68 percent to 32 percent of the vote, according to sources.

A Facebook page for Tuck’s business manager bid, released the following statement:

I hoped to be there, but certainly accept the decision of the members. Thanks to all of you who helped and supported me. Now let’s work together with our new business manager to continue to build and srengthen our union.
